Analyzing state implementation of evidence-based practices for alcohol and drug disorder treatment

This project will address a primary goal of the Foundation, which is obtaining data on the number of states using contracting criteria and learning about specific strategies states employ to increase the use of evidence-based addiction treatment practices. The project will obtain an inventory of the number of states that require agencies to use evidence-based practices in order to meet contracting obligations. The investigators also will identify and interview key informants per state in order to learn about the implementation of evidence-based practices, policy development, within-state teamwork and other factors that are associated with those efforts. Key deliverables will include a table that presents strategies used and evidence-based practices promoted in each state, a summary report for the Foundation and possible peer-reviewed articles that may develop from these data. The project will be considered successful if it provides reliable data on state efforts involving evidence-based, practice-related contracting criteria.
