Developing a training program for home visitation services to prevent child abuse and neglect

The Foundation's program, New Jersey Health Initiatives, was designed to support projects in New Jersey that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs, focusing on the Foundation's goal areas. The purpose of this project is to establish the New Jersey Academy for Home Visitation Training to increase the quality and availability of home visitation services in New Jersey for families with children ages 0 to 5, particularly families at risk, and develop and sustain an infrastructure to support implementing and expanding research-based home visitation models. The Academy will serve staff from existing home visitation programs, as well as newly developing programs. This will be a statewide project, with specific outreach to home visitors and agencies based in high-risk New Jersey communities (i.e., Abbott School districts).
