Identifying and tracking the diversity of key leaders in health and health care
Identifying and documenting the diversity of individuals in key leadership positions in the United States health and health care field is of particular interest to the Foundation's Human Capital program priorities. In April 2004, the Foundation staff made gathering such data one of its field tracking indicators. This program contract supports the development of a list of leadership positions that are most critical to the health and health care system, the creation of a tracking system for gathering this data and the identification of the particular leaders in these positions of interest. Information to be gathered includes basic demographic information, educational attainment, race and whether the leader is a former RWJF-supported fellow or scholar. Funds for this initial project will cover the survey work for three years. Yearly reports will be shared with the field and posted on the RWJF Web site. The project will be considered successful if it produces three reports that profile the leadership of the health and health care field and provides staff with information about how to collect and frame similar data in the future.
