Evaluation roundtable to improve the practice of evaluation at foundations: 2006-08
This grant provides support to the Evaluation Roundtable for 2006 through 2008. The Roundtable is a well established community of practice to support evaluation and effectiveness in philanthropy. Since 1990, the Roundtable has served as a resource to foundation directors of evaluation and program leadership involved in building foundation effectiveness. The Roundtable serves as a forum where foundation leaders can share experiences and good practices, as well as provide an opportunity to review projects that represent less than best practice. The Roundtable offers technical assistance and support in the form of case materials, organization development, and substantive presentations on issues surrounding building, assessing, and sustaining foundation effectiveness. Each year the Roundtable disseminates benchmarking data on the structure, resources, productivity, and audiences for foundation evaluation through Foundation News and Commentary and the Internet. Funding supports two Roundtable meetings, updates to the benchmarking survey of evaluation directors and development of case studies. Costs are shared with other major foundations. Verbal commitments from the Lumina Foundation and the William Penn Foundation are in hand.
