Production of a Web-based video to encourage emergency physicians' participation in disaster response teams and inform them of lessons learned
The recent devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina tested the region's and nation's disaster relief capacity and highlighted the need for improvement, including better preparation and coordination of emergency response personnel. The purpose of this project is to create and disseminate a video presentation intended to recruit emergency physicians to participate in disaster response teams. The project will contribute to our long-term efforts to help the country recover from Katrina and be better prepared to contend with future disasters by increasing the number of emergency physicians actively engaged in disaster response teams. The project deliverables will be production of a video presentation, production and distribution of DVDs, and hosting of the presentation on the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Web site.
