Disseminating a blueprint for the addiction treatment system of the future
Past treatment for addiction disorders has ranged from cruel and inhumane practices to today's disintegrated system of care. While some improvements toward better care are being made, the ideal system of care has yet to be achieved. The Foundation has supported two treatment visioning meetings with diverse experts to map out the ideal addiction treatment system's needs and direction. The purpose of this collaborative project is to stimulate interest in developing and testing technology-based systems, create a complementary prototype system, and attract support for ongoing work from government agencies and philanthropic organizations. This project supports the Foundation's interest in improving systems of care for addictions and related disorders. Project deliverables include Web site development, a prototype of the future system of care, reports, a PowerPoint presentation, five e-newsletters, and three press releases.
