Annual conference on addiction health services research

The annual Addiction Health Services Research (AHSR) Conference has become a major event in presenting updates in research and practice in the fields of drug/alcohol abuse and health services. Drawing attendees from across the nation, the conference provides opportunities for senior and junior investigators, in both formal presentations and informal discussions, to review current work and sharpen ideas for future research. The conference is also an invaluable venue for extended, face-to-face interaction between investigators and program officials at NIDA, other NIH institutes, and the Foundation. In these ways, the conference contributes to the development of the nation's policy and research agendas for drug/alcohol abuse and health services. UCLA has received a small conference grant from NIDA to host the upcoming AHSR conference in October 2005. The purpose of this project is to provide additional funds so the Foundation can co-sponsor the 2005 conference.
