Establishment of a health sciences center
The purpose of this project is to assist Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, design and construct a facility to accommodate its new Health Sciences Center in downtown New Brunswick, New Jersey. With an emphasis on the expanding and revitalizing the Rutgers College of Nursing in New Brunswick, the Center will also include space and clinical facilities for the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy; the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology; and the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research. The particular units to be brought together will create a new university focus on health care delivery, chronic disease prevention and care, health care policy, and community health. The project will be considered successful if the Center's facility is constructed in 3 years; the number of incoming students at the Rutgers School of Nursing is doubled to 200; the co-location of various schools and units creates a distinguished, interdisciplinary, and interconnected community of scholars who advance the field of health care and prepare the next generation of leaders; and city residents receive health care services and resources previously unavailable to them and their families.
