Evaluation augmentation for RWJF's Reclaiming Futures program

The Foundation's program, Reclaiming Futures: Communities Helping Teens Overcome Drugs, Alcohol & Crime, was designed to build community solutions to substance abuse and delinquency by developing the systems infrastructure necessary to deliver comprehensive care within the juvenile justice system. This grant provides support for local evaluation efforts that focus on program assessment and treatment enhancement, and that generate information compatible with the goals of the national evaluation of Reclaiming Futures. The primary activity will be to track how targeted youth navigate the juvenile justice and substance abuse treatment system, focusing on the dates of key events in the case process, from arrest, to court referral, court intake, alcohol and other drug screening and assessment, treatment participation, relapse, and recidivism. By gathering youth-specific data, grantees will be able to compile a complete history of each target youth's system involvement. A second activity will be to investigate client outcomes associated with one or more specific treatment programs or interventions carried out as part of the Reclaiming Futures program.
