Paths to Recovery: Changing the Process of Care for Substance Abuse Programs

The Foundation's initiative, Paths to Recovery: Changing the Process of Care for Substance Abuse Programs, was designed to strengthen the addiction treatment system's ability to successfully use process improvement techniques toward increasing patients' access to and retention in addiction treatment programs. The purpose of this project is to focus on improvements that are of the most importance to the organizational goal of providing treatment with dignity. The grantee plans to consider both consumer perspective and staff needs when developing these improvements, and hopes to develop improvements in one area that can later be spread to its other programs and sites. The grantee's goal is to increase productivity by serving more clients with existing funding, and plans to remove barriers to access and retention while providing treatment with dignity. Improvements developed will be spread throughout the agency. The expected effect on the community served will be to improve survival.
