Strengthening leadership in substance abuse treatment and prevention

Currently, there is no single vehicle at the national level to represent or speak for the state and regional associations of substance abuse treatment providers across the country. A national organization consisting of and representing the interests and needs of diverse providers is a key element and effective mechanism to expand treatment opportunities and quality for people who are addicted. The purpose of this project is to determine the feasibility of institutionalizing the State Association of Addiction Services (SAAS) as a formal mechanism for increasing treatment and prevention capacity and quality nationwide. In addition to basic infrastructure development, SAAS will develop a business plan for long-term sustainability.
