The Foundation's program, Improving Asthma Care for Children, was designed to improve the management of asthma for children covered by Medicaid and State Children's Health Insurance programs. The purpose of this project is to reduce emergency room visits, hospital admissions, and costs caused by poorly managed asthma, and to increase health-related quality of life among children. To achieve these goals and address current gaps in asthma management, four separate but related programs, each directed by its own investigator, will work conjointly and through existing Foundation national programs to achieve their overall objectives. The program will test new approaches to pediatric asthma management through publicly financed models of care.
