Evaluating the Kids Act to Control Tobacco program

The Foundation provided support to the National Education Association Health Information Network to develop and pilot test an advocacy program for middle school students titled Kids Act to Control Tobacco. The pilot test provided feedback on the curriculum from students, teachers, and parents that was incorporated into a revised curriculum. The pilot also suggested that there was a desire among educators to use this curriculum in the classroom as it is novel and can be integrated into various courses to address national education standards. This project will enable researchers at George Washington University to conduct an outcome evaluation of the program, as it has not been evaluated for advocacy or tobacco use outcomes.
