The Foundation's program, Faith in Action®, was designed to expand the continued replication of the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Model, providing volunteer caregiving to people of all ages with chronic health conditions. This grant supports A New Thing Ministry in its mission to provide emotional, social and home maintenance support to low-income, homebound persons who are elderly, frail and/or physically challenged. LoveNcare is an outreach program that will provide friendly visits with food boxes delivered by volunteers, exit ramp construction for physically challenged individuals, and heavy-duty house cleaning for the frail elderly in DeKalb and Henry counties. There are pockets of poverty and lack of support in these suburban locations that appear to be quasi-rural areas. It is their vision to fill the gaps in services where many homebound persons are overlooked and may not have the advocates to ensure that they receive the support they need. A New Thing Ministry has organized a coalition of interfaith congregations, organizations, businesses, agencies, universities and service providers to respond to the needs of the persons overlooked and left out.
