Cash & Counseling initiative -- Supplemental funding

The Foundation's Cash & Counseling Program was designed to allow elderly and disabled Medicaid consumers the opportunity to manage cash allowances in lieu of receiving traditional agency-delivered supportive services. This grant will cover a current shortfall in this program due primarily to the need to conduct special studies that have become part of the evaluation commitment but were never part of the original planning, and an expansion in open enrollment for each of three demonstration states. This additional support, along with a commitment from the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, will ensure that states can continue to gather data through open enrollment and will balance the three-state budget for the evaluation of this program being conducted by Mathematica.
