Analyzing data on universal school-based drug education program evaluations

The purpose of this grant is to provide additional, in-depth meta-analyses of a data set of more than 200 prevention programs to better understand the components of program effectiveness. This data set, compiled by Tobler Research Associates, now Social Capital Development Corporation, is the largest data set available for meta-analysis of universal school-based drug education/prevention programs. The goal of this project is to determine whether implementation, intensity, content, and process variables already coded in the programs can be used to discriminate between more effective and less effective interventions within the group of presently identified interactive programs. The findings can be utilized in setting reasonable standards for prevention programs. The deliverables will include a report detailing these results. In addition, the findings of this project will be presented to the Foundation at a planned meeting of prevention researchers and funders.
