Improving access to health care for the uninsured through research, education, and discussion
The purpose of this project is to provide partial salary support for the Anchorage Access to Health Care Coalition to collect information on health care access in their community and develop options to improve the problem. The Coalition has already collected preliminary statistics on health care access in Anchorage, but requires funds to: (1) compile more complete information; (2) educate the public on the situation; and (3) propose alternatives to improve access. The Coalition will meet four times during the grant period, with more frequent meetings for the Coalition steering committee. At the conclusion of the grant, the Coalition will produce a report and fact sheet for policy makers and the Anchorage community. The United Way has committed to matching half of all funds raised by the Coalition.
