Developing a state-based resource center to improve information and care surrounding work-related injury and illness
The Foundation's Workers' Compensation Health Initiative is a program of demonstration and evaluation projects aimed at containing costs and improving the quality of care provided to injured workers.This grant supports the development of a state-based resource center to improve information and care surrounding work-related injury and illness. The objectives of the Model State Technical Resource Center include: (1) increasing the understanding among stakeholders about workers' compensation medical care, quality of care, and performance measurement; (2) promoting widespread adoption of innovations; (3) improving state government agencies' ability to assemble data and undertake policy studies of workers' compensation medical care; (4) promoting community-based initiatives to improve access to workers' compensation medical care; (5) supporting leadership development in design and evaluation of workers' compensation medical care arrangements; and (6) expanding researcher capacity to evaluate and communicate findings regarding the impact of recent changes on health care quality and costs.
