Workshop on the use of telecommunications to improve health care access for the underserved

This grant supports an invitational one-day workshop, "Bringing the benefits of telehealth to underserved populations: Barriers and opportunities," organized by the Friends of the National Library of Medicine. The workshop is designed to help educate representatives from key public policy and constituency organizations (e.g., AARP, Urban League, major disability and disease groups) about potential applications and barriers to telehealth for underserved populations. The workshop will be held in cooperation with the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and in conjunction with the 1998 Partnerships for Networked Consumer Health Information conference.
