Publication of a special pediatrics supplement on obesity in children and adolescents

Childhood obesity is one of the most important public health issues being faced today. About 22 percent of girls and 20 percent of boys ages 6 to 17 are obese, up from 15 percent of both sexes in the 1970s. The International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) is pursuing publication of a series of original papers on the causes and health consequences of obesity in children and adolescents as a special supplement to Pediatrics. Under this project, these papers will map out, for the first time in one comprehensive volume, what is known and not known about childhood obesity and delineate promising avenues for future research and intervention. The series is designed to be an informative scientific analysis for researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers.
