The Foundation's Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program was designed to provide four-year postdoctoral research awards offered to historically disadvantaged physicians who are committed to developing careers in academic medicine, to improving the health of underserved populations, and to furthering the understanding and elimination of health disparities.Under this grant, Courtney W. Houchen, M.D., will investigate the role of fibroblast growth factors in normal gastrointestinal development and following injury in the gastrointestinal tract. This grant is consistent with the Foundation's continuing efforts to improve the number and quality of minority physicians.
