Program to increase the participation and effectiveness of AIDS services volunteers
The Foundation's program, New Jersey Health Initiatives, was designed to support projects in New Jersey that develop new approaches to resolving the state's health care needs, focusing on the Foundation's goal areas.Although there are many services available for people affected by HIV/AIDS, they are insufficient to meet demand. This project will create a full-scale, on-going education, training, and volunteer resources system to improve the delivery of social support services and health care for people with HIV/AIDS. Caregivers, family members and other volunteers will be trained in advocacy, buddy services, and hot-line monitoring. By increasing and enhancing the pool of volunteers, agencies can rely on paid professionals to handle more difficult problems.
