Technical assistance and direction for RWJF's Smoke-Free Families program

The Foundation's program, Smoke-Free Families: Innovations to Stop Smoking During and Beyond Pregnancy, was designed as a multi-component strategy to improve current clinical practice and advance the field into the next generation of smoking cessation techniques for childbearing women.This grant provides technical assistance and direction to the Smoke-Free Pregnancies Program. During the period of the grant, the University of Alabama in Birmingham will conduct the following activities: (1) set up and staff a National Program Office; (2) assist Foundation staff in developing Program application materials; (3) plan and conduct a technical assistance workshop for potential applicants; and (4) convene meetings of the Program's National Advisory Committee to assist staff in reviewing applications and making grant recommendations. It is expected that projects selected for funding will begin in June 1995.
