Partners in Caregiving: The Dementia Services Program

The Foundation's Partners in Caregiving: The Dementia Services Program was designed to provide technical assistance and grant support to help adult day centers develop and strengthen innovative center-based, in-home, and other respite programs for people with chronic cognitive disorders--particularly dementia. The Seniors' Resource Center's Daybreak adult day program in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, offers care seven days per week and evening and short-term overnight services. The purpose of this project is to expand its program to 2 satellite sites, increasing its overall enrollment to 60. The two new sites will be open five days per week. One site will be located in metro-Denver and has proposed corporate liaisons for care of employees' elder family members. The second program will be a day/travelling program serving a mountain/rural area of Jefferson County. Transportation service will be added at both sites. The current program will also increase ancillary services, begin in-home respite, and offer a caregivers' day out service. The grantee will implement its marketing plan to encompass the opening of the two new sites.
