Examining the state-of-the-art of the medical-quality management movement
The Foundation's Investigator Awards in Health Policy Research Program was designed to produce major works from senior and new investigators that would add to the health policy field's knowledge base. The purpose of this project is to challenge investigators to think creatively about the most important problems affecting American health care, and contribute to the broad intellectual foundation of future health care policy. This project--one of ten selected under the first round of the Program--will examine the state-of-the-art of the medical-quality management movement. The investigator will conduct a literature search and perform extensive site visits with innovators in order to produce a book aimed at a wide audience that includes employers, policymakers, and the general public. A key goal of the project is to provide a common intellectual framework that will facilitate the integration of medical-quality issues into the mainstream of the debate over the future of the American health care system.
