Implementation of a health education program for low-income women
The purpose of this project is to implement a health education and disease prevention program for low-income women in five cities. Program objectives are to: (1) recruit and train group leaders in selected cities to organize monthly self help meetings for program participants, provide health education workshops and materials on preventable illness; (2) use volunteers to provide health risk assessments and assess attitudes about disease prevention; (3) develop small group walking programs; and (4) train group leaders on health monitoring and assist participants in monitoring their own progress.
