Factors influencing implementation of a law to reduce tobacco access by you

The Foundation's Tobacco Policy Research and Evaluation Program was designed to provide support for research and evaluation projects that will produce policy relevant information about ways to reduce tobacco use in the U.S., especially among children and youth.This grant supports research to assess the extent of implementation of the Synar Amendment, and will describe the factors influencing implementation at the federal and state level. Specifically, it will examine the role of tobacco control coalitions in supporting state and local enforcement. It will also use the Synar experience to assess the generic policy strategy of linking state performance in one area to federal funding in another.
