Support for a new national inhalant prevention coalition

Foundation staff participated in a Roundtable Discussion on Inhalants, hosted by the Texas Prevention Partnership in Austin, Texas, on April 30, 1993, in order to learn more about the current trends and responses to this form of chemical abuse. As a result of the discussions, it was agreed that a series of follow-up planning workshops should be held to create a National Inhalant Abuse Coalition to coordinate a national strategy to reduce the impact of inhalant abuse. This grant provides support for two follow-up meetings. The objectives of upcoming meetings are to develop an implementation plan which will include the development of a national clearinghouse on related research, educational materials, and policy development, and review educational materials, finalize dissemination strategy, amd develop a plan for continuation funding, respectively. Foundation funds will cover the cost of travel expenses for some of the participants who cannot afford to pay their own way.
