Ladders in Nursing Careers (L.I.N.C.) Program

The Foundation's Ladders in Nursing Careers Program was designed to replicate Project L.I.N.C. which demonstrated an effective strategy to help interested and qualified hospital employees advance into LPN and RN positions at the nursing school of their choice. This grant supports a planning phase to replicate Project L.I.N.C. in the State of Rhode Island. The grantee will include allied health fields as well as nursing in their focus. Since the State has one of the fastest growing immigrant populations, the Hospital Association of Rhode Island will focus upon increasing the number of minorities and immigrants currently occupying entry level health positions into professional positions. In the planning phase, the grantee will establish a steering committee composed of leaders from health care and education which will oversee the implementation of the project. The grantee will also procure commitments from employer participants and education programs, and will identify local funding sources.
