Workplace program to help parents prevent substance abuse among teens

This grant supports "Growing Up Drug Free" that will provide knowledge and skills for parents to effectively help their children avoid the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. A model curriculum provided by the employer in the work place will be developed, implemented in 5-10 sites and evaluated. Curriculum materials include workbooks, teaching guides, and selected audio-visuals together with a newsletter, trainer programs and meetings of pilot sites. A subcontracted evaluation will assess the program. The three-year activity plan for the project is categorized as follows: (1) year 1 research and development; (2) year 2 implementation; and (3) year 3 evaluation. It is expected that 500 parents will be involved at each pilot site
