Feasibility study of the health effects of Medicaid expansions

The Foundation's Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization program was designed to support research, demonstration, and evaluation projects examining major changes in health care financing. This grant supports a feasibility analysis of conducting an in-depth study of maternal and birth outcomes in two states that significantly increased coverage of poor women under the Medicaid program. If feasible, this study will assess the contribution of providing Medicaid coverage to pregnant women for improving access to care and outcomes. During the feasibility study, the investigators will work with several states to determine whether data can be made available and will review the context and significance of Medicaid expansions in those states.
