The Foundation's Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program was designed to provide four-year postdoctoral research awards offered to historically disadvantaged physicians who are committed to developing careers in academic medicine, to improving the health of underserved populations, and to furthering the understanding and elimination of health disparities.Dr. Sullivan began his fellowship January 1991 at Stanford University. Shortly thereafter he learned that his mentor was leaving the institution and after consultation with members of the national advisory committee, it was agreed that Dr. Sullivan should transfer his fellowship to Case Western University and the supervision of Sami I. Harik, MD. He will continue research on the effects of receptor-ligand interactions on permeability of mammalian brain micro vessels. Dr. Purpura, advisory committee member, will continue to monitor his progress.
