Expansion and renovation of treatment and educational facilities
Although the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation became a national philanthropy in 1972 and has operated on a national scale since then, it also has continued funding a limited number of local institutions and projects in the New Brunswick area and throughout New Jersey. It does so in part to honor the legacy of its founder, and in part to recognize the special responsibilities to the communities and the state in which it is located. This funding contributes toward a major capital campaign for the expansion and renovation of treatment and educational space at the Cerebral Palsy Association of Middlesex County's Lakeview School, located in Edison, New Jersey. The expansion program hopes to add nine new class rooms, double its therapy space, construct new areas for on-site nursing and medical care, and expand and/or renovate other service, educational, and pupil-support areas such as the computer-communications lab for speech impaired pupils. Construction is expected to start in 1991.
