Analysis of the health status & service use by the uninsured in California
The Foundation's Changes in Health Care Financing and Organization program was designed to support research, demonstration, and evaluation projects examining major changes in health care financing. This is a research project to analyze recently released population-based survey data for California, supplemented by other relevant data, to describe the number and characteristics of the uninsured and to compare their health status and use of services to that of the insured. The objective of this research is to use these unique California data to analyze the composition of and utilization of health services by the uninsured in ways that can be applied to other states and ultimately be used to develop simulation models that could be used to look at the effects on the uninsured of potential changes in state policies.
