The Foundation's Summer Medical and Dental Education Program was designed to develop and implement a six-week academic enrichment program for undergraduate college students from minority groups, from rural areas, and from economically disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine or dentistry.This grant supports technical assistance and direction for this Foundation program. Each project includes, but is not limited to: (1) academic enrichment (mathematics, science, problem-solving skills); (2) structured laboratory experience; (3) counseling regarding the selection and application process for medical school; (4) MCAT preparation and review; and (5) student stipends. Each site will enroll at least 180 students each year and the participants will be talented college students entering their sophomore, junior or senior years.
