Dissemination of the teaching nursing home concept

The Foundation's Teaching Nursing Home Program was designed to establish affiliations between schools of nursing and nursing homes in order to improve care for elderly persons with chronic health problems and to provide settings for clinical service, education and service. This grant supports dissemination of information on the achievements and outcomes of the 12 demonstration programs in RWJF's Teaching Nursing Home Program. At four regional conferences, health administrators, educators and clinicians had the opportunity to discuss, consider, and assess the value of the Teaching Nursing Home (TNH) strategy in establishing an affiliation of their own. The conference content included: the components of a TNH, how to establish a TNH, successful affiliation strategies, and how to evaluate an affiliation marketing and staff/faculty organizational model.
