Diabetes education and management at the worksite

The Foundation's Research and Development Program to Improve Patient Functional Status was designed to stimulate projects focusing on the problems and illnesses that can significantly impair infants, children, and adults.Recent technological advances have led to improved medical management of the diabetic patient. Thus far, however, intensive diabetic treatment programs have been based only in major research centers. This study plans to determine whether such a program is feasible at the worksite. Diabetics in a large New York banking firm will be tested to see whether those in a special group have better diabetic control, fewer missed work days, better work quality and psychological well being, and less need for further medical care than those not in the study group.
