RWJF Medical Student Aid Program

The Foundation's Medical Student Aid Program was designed to maximize the possibility that the drive to expand medical enrollments would actually make a difference in the extreme shortage of doctors serving rural areas and disadvantaged minority groups. It is aimed at encouraging the graduation of more students whose social background might lead them to select medically underserved areas as the primary focus of their professional practice. The program will meet this objective by concentrating the grant funds on women students, on students from rural backgrounds, and those from the country's Black, Indian, Mexican-American, and U.S. mainland Puerto Rican populations. This grant provides support for the grantee's participation in this Foundation national program.
