Finding Answers

In this video from Finding Answers: Disparities Research for Change, researchers from across the United States explain why we need better tools and strategies to address racial and ethnic disparities in health care, and what we can do about it.

Finding Answers is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that supports research in racial and ethnic inequalities in health care. Program researchers scrutinize specific strategies aimed at improving care to see which are effective. The researchers work in 33 communities around the country, testing approaches that may help patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes and depression. They are assessing such solutions as financial incentives, coaching, automatic reminders, telephone support, cultural training and clinic redesign. By identifying successful, replicable solutions, the researchers hope to reduce gaps in care.
