Overcoming barriers to enrollment of Asian-Americans, native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders in coverage under the Affordable Care Act

This grant supports the Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum (the Forum) in ensuring that adequate resources are available to help Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (APIAs) enroll in coverage options under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The Forum will focus on coordinating the outreach and communications efforts of community-based organizations and federally qualified health centers that serve the APIA community with larger enrollment efforts, especially those of Enroll America. Furthermore, the Forum will translate enrollment materials into nine Asian and Pacific Island languages and coordinate enrollment assistance for API Americans, particularly those who have limited English proficiency, are in families with mixed immigration statuses, own or work in small businesses, and are ages 18 through 35. Deliverables for this project include: (1) coordination with national groups working on enrollment; (2) translation of enrollment materials into nine additional Asian and Pacific Island languages; and (3) outreach and enrollment assistance in APIA communities.
