Establishing a Families USA Story Bank on enrollment success stories to publicize the available insurance options under the Affordable Care Act

Under this grant, Families USA will significantly expand its story-bank operation, increasing the organization's capacity to cultivate, vet, catalog, and produce stories from real people about their experiences with enrollment in new health coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This will entail four major areas of activity: (1) using multiple strategies to solicit story leads; (2) securing story leads from multiple sources; (3) careful and extensive vetting of stories; and (4) managing story dissemination and use. GMMB, specializing in communications strategy, will serve as a lead adviser to the grantee. Families USA will use a portion of this grant to administer funds to state-based organizations positioned to provide significant story leads. Families USA will also work closely with national organizations, including Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grantees, to identify potential sources of stories. The stories produced will be a central element of the Foundation's Coverage team's communications strategy and used as part the team's message calendar, providing opportunities to demonstrate success in enrollment.
