Continuing support for the Western regional center for public health law at Arizona State University, 2013-2015
The Foundation's Public Health Law Field-Building initiative was designed to support public health practitioners, their counsel and policymakers in using law to promote, protect and improve health through technical assistance, training, legal analyses, products, and translation and dissemination delivered through a national network of public health law centers and key stakeholder groups. This funding supports the Western Region of the Network for Public Health Law (Network) to work in conjunction with the national coordinating center (NCC) and four additional regional centers to serve as a national public health law network. This regional center will help communities and states primarily in the West to know when and how to use laws and policies to protect and promote health by: (1) delivering direct technical assistance to public health practitioners in 11 states based on collaboration with public health officials, their counsel, and health advocates; (2) helping provide training and networking opportunities for public health professionals, their counsel, health advocates, and students interested in public health law; and (3) working together with NCC and the other regional centers to develop a dynamic and integrated network of resources and support for public health law.
