Streamlining foundations' application and reporting requirements to reduce the burden on grant-seeking organizations

This grant supports the Grants Managers Network (GMN) for an assessment of Project Streamline, a multipartner effort designed to reduce the burden of the grant application and reporting processes on nonprofits. Since its inception in 2007, Project Streamline has grown from an idea to an industrywide concept. During that time, there has been anecdotal evidence that Project Streamline's tools and publications have helped a number of medium- to large-size foundations to rethink their processes, evolving from something grants professionals know they should have done to something they have implemented and use as a primary benchmark. GMN is looking to capitalize on its progress by commissioning an assessment of the project's impact to date. The result of the findings will codify the successes, help GMN continue to raise awareness and, most importantly, identify the most promising methods to successful streamlining, which GMN will then aggressively promote industrywide. By continuing to collaborate with its existing partners and building connections to additional stakeholders, GMN will advocate for the basic principles and guidelines of Project Streamline to be included in all of the sector's curricula on grantmaking practices.
