The Foundation's New Jersey Nursing Initiative was designed to address the New Jersey nurse faculty shortage by developing, implementing and evaluating a statewide model for recruitment and retention of nurse faculty. The Program Office at the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Foundation coordinates the work of the New Jersey Nursing Initiative. These funds provide support for staff salary/benefits, travel, office operations, strategic consultants, communications, and meeting expenses (including support for the National Advisory Committee, the Leadership Council, the program annual meeting, the Collaborative Learning Community, and the Strategic Working Groups). In addition to coordinating work groups focusing on policy issues and educational innovations, the program office manages the NJNI faculty preparation program which supports nine NJ nursing programs that are preparing 61 masters' and doctoral students to be nurse faculty in New Jersey.
