Recognizing that states have a significant role in payment reform and in efforts to improve health care quality and value, this grant project will build on the experiences and relationships developed in the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Aligning Forces for Quality and State Health Reform Assistance Network programs to engage states and support reform. This program is a state-outreach effort that will leverage the State Innovation Models program and assist target states that are eager, but not yet ready, to participate in wide-scale reforms. The program activities will include developing relationships with state officials, monitoring their activity in quality and value improvements and payment reform, and supporting opportunities for peer-to-peer sharing. The program will also produce eight briefs with actionable tools for state officials and coordinate with partner organizations to disseminate lessons learned through webinars and other means, including a 50-state conference. The project will include limited technical assistance to states. Finally, the program will inform the Foundation's Quality/Equality team's future state-based programming. The grantee will provide at least monthly updates on progress on its workplan, state relationships, deliverables completed, and usefulness and dissemination of its activities and products.
