Employing a shared approach to improving public health dental services in Cabarrus and Guilford Counties, N.C.

The Foundation's initiative, Cross-Jurisdictional Sharing, was designed to strengthen the ability of public health agencies to improve the health of the communities they serve by supporting efforts to explore, inform, and track the implementation of innovative regional or shared approaches to delivering public health services.The Cabarrus Health Alliance (CHA) will partner with Guilford County Health Department to develop a plan to restructure their dental programs into a shared services model. Deliverables include: (1) an assessment and report of each county's dental program, including activities, human resources, other available resources, capacity, capabilities, and technology; (2) a feasibility study on the potential for sharing staff, resources, training, technology, knowledge; and (3) an action plan to serve as a roadmap to implement findings from the feasibility study. In addition, the project grantee will designate a team lead to serve as the primary point of contact for the project and provide continuity by participating in all Learning Community activities; designate a communications coordinator to serve as the primary point of contact for the Center's communications staff; ensure that at least four team members participate in three in-person Learning Community meetings; ensure that three team members attend one other project's site visit; participate in quarterly calls with the Learning Community; participate in quarterly calls with Center staff; and, host up to two site visits over the course of the project.
