Supporting the 28th annual Rosalynn Carter Symposium on Mental Health Policy

This grant supports the 28th annual Rosalynn Carter Symposium on Mental Health Policy, November 1-2, in Atlanta. The Carter Center has developed a reputation as an honest broker in the field of mental health services among advocates, policymakers and consumers and as a supporter of reform and improvement in the mental health field. The goal of this symposium is to develop policy objectives to promote the social inclusion of people with severe mental illnesses. Social-inclusion elements to be discussed include housing and employment, as well as integrated care and wellness. Three plenary sessions will lay the foundation for the symposium. Subsequently, attendees will break into working groups to develop specific objectives to support and improve social inclusion for people with mental illnesses in the following areas: public health, law and policy, services, and research. Deliverables for this grant will be the social-inclusion objectives, which will serve as a guide for the field.
