This study will identify factors that influence Medicare debt (MD) among seniors by race/ethnicity; assess the extent to which income, insurance, out-of-pocket costs and co-morbidities explain the relationship between race/ethnicity and MD; and examine MD consequences and assess differences by race/ethnicity. Andersen's Behavioral Model of Health Services Utilization guides this research. Using 2007 Health Tracking Household Survey data, logistic regression models will be estimated to address research questions. Deliverables include a final report, conference presentations, and journal manuscripts.This funding represents the transfer of an earlier grant from one institution to another.
