This award allows for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to partially sponsor the 2012 PopTech conference, held annually in Camden, Maine, and its Social Innovation and Science Fellows programs. PopTech has emerged as a leader in the social innovation space, holding dynamic conferences that surface new ideas that spread widely through online video and other networks. The organization operates two prestigious fellowship programs that attract diverse leaders who are on the cutting edge of social change in their respective fields. As a sponsor of the conference and fellows programs, the Foundation will have the opportunity to engage with PopTech leaders and current and past fellows at the 2012 conference and at other points throughout the year. The goal is for PopTech staff and fellows to clearly grasp the issues and approach that drive the RWJF Vulnerable Populations Portfolio's funding strategy, curate connections to promising innovators and ideas, and ultimately move RWJF's idea-sourcing efforts forward. Conference sponsorship affords the Foundation four complimentary conference registrations; structured opportunities to learn more about and network with PopTech fellows at the event and through meetings at the Foundation; and ongoing networking and interaction with the PopTech community.
