This grant supports the Pacific Business Group on Health (PBGH) and its efforts to engage large employers in discussions on policy proposals to reduce health care spending in the public and private sectors. PBGH will use these funds to: (1) convene a "kitchen cabinet" of 15 to 20 senior business leaders who will review those proposed policies, and develop a framework and set of principles to help guide evaluation of such policies; (2) develop a network of six to ten influential corporate CEOs to provide public, nonpartisan endorsement of the policy proposals; and (3) engage key business associations and policy advocates in a dialogue about such proposals to contain health care costs. Deliverables will include a convening of the network described above, along with publication of at least four decision memos, four background papers, four public op-eds, and three issue briefs and delivery of four speeches on cost-containment problems and strategies for business coalitions.
